Abstract
Effective communication with health care providers is an essential component of quality, informed care, and limited English proficiency (LEP) can be a predictor of decreased health care access and poorer clinical outcomes. This brief summarizes the rates of LEP throughout U.S. counties with at least one Critical Access Hospital (CAH). Further information about best practices for providing language interpreter services in CAHs can be found in our policy brief here.
