Abstract
This National Report from the 2023 National Critical Access Hospital (CAH) Quality Inventory and Assessment ("Assessment") provides a high-level summary of data collected during Fall 2023. The Assessment, which is the first of its kind at a national level, provided an opportunity to gather a wealth of information on quality improvement processes from CAHs in a standardized manner, in order to enhance support to CAHs in quality improvement activities. Over 1,200 CAHs (89%) completed the Assessment and provided data on a variety of characteristics, including service lines, patient volume, and CAH quality infrastructure. Beyond this report, the data from this Assessment will help State Flex Programs to better support quality initiatives and reporting in their states.
