This project will identify a rural-relevant minimum data set of core EMS (Emergency Medical Services) agency licensure elements for consideration by state EMS agencies. Challenges for rural EMS include a dependence on volunteer staffing, a lack of information on staffing levels, and a limited understanding of the service areas of individual EMS agencies. These licensure elements will provide a resource for state EMS agencies and, if adopted, will provide a rich data source for monitoring rural EMS performance.
